Ingredients for Chicken Kolhapuri

1 Chicken

1 Red Bell Pepper

4-5 Dry Red Chillies

1/4 tsp Cumin Seeds

7 Peppercorns

3 Cloves

1 Cinnamon

1/2 tsp Fenugreek Seeds

1 tsp Black Cumin Seeds

2 tsp Mustard Seeds

1/4 cup Dry Coconut

1 tbsp Oil

1 tsp Tumeric Powder

4-5 Garlic Cloves, finely chopped

salt to taste

1 lemon for garnishing

1 tsp Coriander Leaves for garnishing


Directions for Chicken Kolhapuri

1Roast all the spices one after another.

2Roast coconut till it is deep brown, but not burnt

3Grind the roasted spices, coconut and red chillies, peppercorns without adding water to a smooth paste.

4Marinate the chicken with the above paste, salt, tumeric powder, and chopped garlic in fridge for 2 hours

5Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add marinated chicken, stir and fry for about 5 minutes

6Add 1 cup water and pressure cook for up to 4 - 5 whistles

7While serving squeeze lemon well over it, garnish Chicken Kolhapuri with coriander
