Broken Wheat Kheer / Broken Wheat Payasam is a very healthy dish. You can prepare this with jaggery for any occasions. It is absolutely delicious and easy to make.
1 cup broken wheat
2.5 cups water
1 cup jaggery
2 tsp cornflour
powdered coconut milk, from one cup freshly grated coconut
1 Cook broken wheat in pressure cooker, with water, till very soft. It normally takes about 10 minutes
2 Add jaggery to nearly boiled cooked wheat and let it simmer for a minute more, uncovered, stirring all the time to avoid burning. Remove from heat.
3 Mix coconut milk with cornflour and add to porridge on a low flame. Allow it to almost boil but do not keep boiling for any length of time
4 Add caradomon powder and serve hot or cold
