    Fish Pulao is an another version of a biryani. If you have been having chicken and mutton biryani very often, then fish pulav is better change and worth trying. It is very easy to make and all in one vessel. It cooked with tasty spices. Serve it with salad and raita.

    Ingredients for Fish Pulao

    4 cups Basmati rice, soaked in water

    1 tbsp ginger garlic paste

    1 1/2 cup fish pieces (approx 1")

    3 red dry chillies, ground

    1/4 tsp turmeric powder

    1 lemon

    2 large onions, sliced thinly

    15 peppercorns

    6 cloves

    2 1" cinnamon sticks

    8 white cardamon, crushed

    1 1/2 tsp cumin seeds powder

    2 bay leaves

    salt, oil and ghee as required


    Directions for Fish Pulao

    1 Wash and drain the rice, wash the fish pieces in water.

    2 Apply little salt and lemon juice and keep it for 45 minutes

    3 Heat 3 tbsp oil in shallow frying pan and season it with peppercorn, cloves, cinnamon sticks, crushed cardamons and bayleaf.

    4 Add ground chillies and the ginger garlic paste, and fry for few seconds

    5 Add fish and fry till the oil seperates.

    6 Add in rice, turmeric, cumin seed powder and salt

    7 Fry till the rice comes to pale yellow color

    8 Pour 3 cups of hot water and squeeze in the lemon juice and make the fire medium.

    9 Cook till the fish is tender adn rice is cooked

    10 In another frying pan heat 1.5 tbsp of ghee and add onion slices

    11 Fry till they are brown and crisp, take out and keep aside

    12 Pour the remaining ghee over the fish pulav and mix well

    13 Then spread the fried onions over the pulav
