Parsi Patrani Machchi Recipe is a very famous Parsi Dish, it steamed fish in banana leaves and served at Parsi Navjot or Weddings, Pateti (New Year). This Patrani Machi is very easy to cook, and healthy. It food of low calorie and cooked without oil. I have attended a lot of Parsi Weddings and Patrani Machchi is my favorite Dish. 500 gms fish fillets (pomfrets / salmon / Kingfish)
1/2 tsp lime juice
3 banana leaves for fish wrapping
Patrani Machi Chutney
1 cup coriander leaves
1 cup mint leaves (pudina)
1 tsp cumin seeds
4 green chillies
1 cup coconut grated
7 cloves garlic
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
salt to taste
1Wash and Clean the fish with water and apply lime juice and little salt and marinate it for 30 minutes.
2Blend the the Patrani Machi chutney ingredients in a blender to a smooth paste
3Make thin slits on the fish on both sides and apply this chutney on the fish and in the slits
4Place the banana leaves on the steamer for a few seconds on both sides, which make the leaves soft.
5Now wrap the fish pieces completely with the banana leaves with a string tied around to keep it firm.
6And to Cook Patrani Machchi steam it for 15 to 20 minutes.
