Murgi Ma Kaju (Chicken with Cashew) Parsi Style

Murgi Ma Kaju / Kaju Ni Marghi is a very delicious and tasty chicken dish cooked in Parsi Style. In this dish cashew nuts are used to get that taste. Very nice dish to serve to guest and any occasion in your house. We really enjoyed this dish from our childhood, it is really worth trying. Check our other chicken recipes

Ingredients for Murgi Ma Kaju (Chicken with Cashew) Parsi Style

10 g ginger

10 garlic

1 1/2 kg chicken pieces

10 dry red kashmiri chillies (soaked in 1/2 cup hot water for 15 mins)

1 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 cup cashew nuts broken into pieces

1 1/2 cup water

1 cup vegetable oil

250 g sliced onions

4 tsp salt

3 tbsp tomato ketchup

1 tsp sugar


Directions for Murgi Ma Kaju (Chicken with Cashew) Parsi Style

1Grind together ginger and garlic into a paste and rub on chicken. Allow to marinate for about 1 hour.

2Grind together chillies and cumin seeds into a paste, adding a little water in which chillies were soaked, from time to time

3Seperately grind cashew nuts into a paste, adding a little water (1/2 cup) from time to time

4Heat oil in cooker for about 3 minutes. Add onions and fry till golden brown.

5Add chilli paste. Stir and fry for about 3 mins.

6Add Chicken. Fry for about 10 mins.

7Add salt and remaining water (1 cup). Mix well.

8Close cooker. Bring to full pressure on high heat. Reduce heat and cook for 5 mins

9Remove cooker from heat. Allow to cool naturally

10Open cooker. Place cooker with chicken on high heat. Stir in cashewnut paste, tomato ketchup and sugar

11Cook till gravy thickens (approx 2 mins). stirring constantly. Serve hot.
