Pomfret Caldinho Recipe or Goan Fish Caldinho is a very popular goan fish curry of yellowish green color made from coconut juice. This goan fish caldine is a traditional type of goan curry which goes well with pomfrets, other fish can also be used. This pomfret caldinho is also my favorite dish from childhood. Ingredients for Pomfret Caldinho Recipe, Goan Fish Caldine
For Goan Fish Caldine
500 gms pomfrets (cleaned and washed)
1 onion finely chopped (medium)
1 tomato finely chopped (medium)
1/2 inch ginger grated
2 - 3 green chillies (slit)
1/2 tsp sugar
2 tbsp cooking oil
salt and vinegar (as required)
For Goan Fish Caldino Masala Paste
1/2 cup fresh coconut scraped
3 tsp coriander seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
4 flakes garlic
6 peppercorns
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 small sized ball of tamarind

Directions for Pomfret Caldinho Recipe, Goan Fish Caldine
1Slice the fish into pieces and apply salt to prepare pomfret caldinho
2Grind all the ingredients in Fish Caldino Masala Paste with warm water to fine paste
3Then extract and strain the juice of this Fish caldinho paste, which is thick caldin juice and keep it aside
4Then extract more caldin juice out of the remaining seperately with little more warm water and keep seperately, which will be thin caldin juice
5Heat oil in the cooking pan and fry onions till they become soft, then add ginger and further fry for few seconds
6Then add tomatoes and saute till they become soft
7Further add the thin caldin juice and bring it to a boil
8Slowly add the pomfret pieces and chillies and let it cook till the pomfret it nearly done.
9Then add the thick caldino juice and sugar and slowly stir it (DON'T STIR TOO MUCH)
10Then add the vinegar and salt according to your taste and let it cook till completely done.
11And finally your Goan Pomfret Caldinho Recipe is ready to be served with rice .
