    Tomato Soup

    Homemade Tomato soup is the easiest and a healthy soup, very easy to make. It is served as a appetizer before meal. This soup can be changed according to your taste. it is a tasty soup which is mostly served with toast.

    Ingredients for Tomato Soup

    700gms tomatoes

    2 tbsp vegetable oil

    1 bay leaf

    4 spring onions

    1 tsp salt

    1/2 tsp garlic paste

    1 tsp crushed black peppercorns

    2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander

    3 cups water

    1 tbsp cornflour


    1 spring onions chopped(optional)

    2 tbsp single cream (optional)

    Directions for Tomato Soup

    1 Skin and chop the tomatoes. (dip them in hot water to skin easily)

    2 In a medium saucepan, heat the oil and fry the chopped tomatoes, bay leaf and chopped spring onions for a few minutes till soft

    3 Gradually add the salt, garlic, peppercorns and fresh coriander to the tomato mixture, finally adding the water. Bring to the boil, lower the heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

    4 Dissolve the cornflour in a little water

    5 Remove the soup from the heat and press through a sieve(strainer)

    6 Return to the pan, add the cornflour and stir over gentle heat for about 3 minutes until thickened

    7 Pour into individual serving dishes and garnish with the chopped spring onion and cream, if using. Serve hot with toast
