For Ambot Tik Fish Curry
500 gms Shark (Pilo)
1 medium onion (chopped finely)
1 medium tomatoe (chopped finely)
2 fresh chillies (slit)
1/4 teaspoon sugar (according to taste)
5 tbsp vinegar (according to taste)
4-5 tbsp cooking oil
salt to taste
For Shark Ambot Tik Masala Paste
8 kashmiri chillies (deseeded)
1 tsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
10 garlic cloves
1 inch cinnamon stick
5 black peppercorns
small ball tamarind (soaked in hot water and pulp extracted)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1Remove the shark skin, wash it and cut it to slices and apply salt.
2Grind the ingredients of Shark Ambot Tik Masala Paste using some water to a smooth and thick paste and keep it aside.
3Heat oil in the cooking pan and add the chopped onions, fry them till the color changes (slightly golden brown)
4Then add the tomatoes and fry till they become soft.
5Then add the ambot tik grinded masala and fry for 2- 3 minutes
6Add water according to your curry needed and stir it nicely.
7When the curry comes to boil add the shark slices to it, then cook on low flame till the fish is done and tender
8After thant check and add the salt, sugar, vingear as required and let it cook for another 5 minutes
9Check for the vinegar and sugar and add if required for the ambot tik
10And the Delicious Shark Ambot Tik Curry is ready, which can be served with steamed rice or bread.
